Apart from 2 years in an IT company, working with insurance software for the marine insurance industry, Bjørn worked with Bergvall (later Sedgwick and Marsh) until early 2009. He held positions in the accounts- and the documentation department, and moved on to broking following completion of education at the Insurance Academy in 1992. Working as an authorized insurance broker for two decades Bjørn has vast experience in handling and serving clients, being owners, ship managers, finance institutions and shipyards. 

In addition to marine insurance interests, Bjørn is a keen explorer and mountain climber.
